The importance of children’s eyecare

Good vision is essential for learning.  An observant parent is often the first person to detect signs of a vision problem in a child.

Some signs to look for are:

  • Eyes often red, watery or burning
  • Eyes blinking frequently
  • Rubbing eyes frequently
  • One eye turning IN or OUT while the other points straight ahead
  • Screwing the eyes up while reading or watching TV
  • Holding a book very close to read it
  • Losing place while reading
  • Closing one eye while reading
  • Tilting the head noticeably while looking at things
  • Difficulty concentrating for any length of time
  • Slow learner at school
  • Headaches
  • Child complains of blurry or double vision
